Specialty Classes

Each evening, the campers will have the opportunity to participate in a "specialty class".  The specialty class will be the same each evening, with each evening building upon the skills learned the previous evening.

When you sign-up your camper, you'll have the opportunity to choose your first and second specialty class preference.

Here's a listing of specialty classes offered, according to age segments:

4 years to Pre-K

Creative Movement
During this class, children will explore movement through music, develop physical skills, stimulate imagination and promote creativity. Creative moment uses body actions to communicate images, ideas and feelings.


Clay Art
Who doesn't enjoy getting dirty with clay?  What a great way for children to learn and explore creativity!  Within this class, children will learn different techniques and ways of creating what they see in our world, with clay!


Rhyme & Rhythm
Our rhyme & rhythm class will involve a mix of singing, instrument play, dancing and movement, story time and other physical activities that develop your child's creativity.

Finished K to Finished 1st Grade

Sign Language in Song
During this "hands-on" class, children will learn how to "sign" a song!  What joy it is to not only learn a small amount of sign-language but to be able to communicate an entire song!

Boomwhackers
Boomwhackers are lightweight, hollow, color-coded, plastic tubes, tuned to musical pitches.  Children have a great time using them as musical instruments!  When struck together, on the floor, or against nearly any surface, they produce musical tones.  This is a great class for both boys and girls!

Finished 2nd to Finished 3rd Grade

Sign Language in Song

Handbells
Handbells are always a favorite!  How fascinating it is to pick up a single bell, play your part, and together make beautiful music!  

Photography
In this introductory photography class, campers will learn the techniques and skills needed to begin to capture the world around them!  They will explore lighting, composition and how to be creative in capturing images that tell a story.  NOTE:  A digital camera will be necessary for the students who choose this option.  However, any digital camera will be just fine!  Nothing fancy is required.



Wood Crafting
During this class, children will make wooden "limberjacks" that are used to teach rhythm.  These little limberjacks are as fun to make as they are to play!  This is another great class for boys and girls alike!

Cupcake Decorating
Want to learn to decorate some super cool cupcakes?  Then, you'll love this yummy class!  

Photography

Mural Art
During this class, campers will have the opportunity to explore the world of "mural art".  How are large, murals created?  How are they colored?  As the children are taught, together, they will create a group mural that will be displayed during our Wednesday evening Family Night event.  If your camper enjoys sketching and painting, or has a desire to learn about it, they'll enjoy this class!

Puppetry
Oh, puppets!  What fun!  If you have a camper that loves to tell stories and imagine, then they'll enjoy our puppetry class!  Together, they will create their own puppet routine that we'll all enjoy during our Wednesday evening family night!
